Ductile Ceramics Leadership:
Tony Collins – The Entrepreneur
Tony Collins is the chairman of Ductile Ceramics. As the company’s founder, he is responsible for the creative vision behind the patented technology.
Mr. Collins was also the founder of Turbine Generator Maintenance, Inc., the nation’s leading independent turbine maintenance company, which he ran for 20 years until selling it to a private equity fund in 2007.
Mr. Collins received his degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dr. Arun Wagh – The Scientist
Dr. Arun Wagh is the director of research and development for Ductile Ceramics and is in charge of the technical development and effective commercialization of the company’s patented technology.
For 20 years, Dr. Wagh led the research team that developed the Ceramicrete technology (chemically bonded phosphate ceramics) at Argonne National Laboratory. Previously, he worked as a senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
Dr. Wagh’s research, initially for the U.S. Department of Energy and now for Ductile Ceramics, has been directed toward finding novel structural materials, materials for stabilizing radioactive waste streams, nuclear shielding materials, and advanced cement technologies.
A Fellow of the American Ceramic Society, Dr. Wagh authored the book “Chemically Bonded Phosphate Ceramics,” a comprehensive account of his research. He received his Ph. D. in physics from the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York, and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Bombay University.
